Absence Due to Moving + Projects + Commissions?!?

Don't worry, everyone, I didn't forget about this blog!
I am in the middle of moving out of state so all of my studio is packed up, and because of that, I have nothing to work on at the moment. I was putting together a tutorial on stripping a model using an industrial de-greaser, but even that was put on hold.

I am moving Saturday if everything goes well, and should have a makeshift studio set up the following day until my actual studio is set up. This'll allow me to get any small projects done in the meantime.

Speaking of "Meantime," I recently came across this article about unicorns that mentions the description of one:
“The unicorn,” Pliny wrote, “is the fiercest animal, and it is said that it is impossible to capture one alive. It has the body of a horse, the head of a stag, the feet of an elephant, the tail of a boar, and a single black horn three feet long in the middle of its forehead. Its cry is a deep bellow.”
Naturally, being the opportunist artist I am, I drew up a mock-up of the literal animal it created with that description:

Of course, the description was that of a rhino, but I rather like this design. so much, in fact, that I am making a model based off of it. I am ditching the whole "elephant feet" and "boar tail" idea for the more traditional cloven hooves and long, mostly hairless tail.

I bought a model last month with this project in mind. It is the ASB stallion model, which needs some TLC as it is. There are some flaws in the mane and tail, which aren't pictured, or aren't pictured well.

It will be stripped of its previous (albeit beautiful) custom job, the tail will be "busted" off and the mane will be removed by whatever means, the head will inevitably be cut off, and then it'll undergo pre-prep, where I remove any debris or anything that could potentially hinder the forthcoming sculptwork. I will be drawing up the concept for the actual design of the unicorn soon (since it's the closest I'll get to model work at the moment -cries-) and that way you all can see how it'll look!

I quote "busted," because I do actually like the customizer's job on this horse and want to replicate it in a future model. I'd like to keep the tail around if only for referencing purposes. The mane, unfortunately, may need to be sanded off since it's stuck to the neck in more than just the crest.

The unicorn will be a sales piece, so if it's something you might be interested in owning, keep a good tab on it!

Also, Project Redemption is still very much a real idea and I'm hoping to get enough commissions going (or sales pieces, whichever) to help fund it. I am and will be looking for the bodies of the models listed in that post, so if you have any you'd like to contribute to the project, let me know! I would be more than happy to buy them off of you, or, if you plan to order a commission, the body can drop the price! There are ways to contact me all over the place - contact forms, comments, and even in CAZ!

My commission books are open and I am accepting names and orders to get to work on when I get settled in! The list is endless as of right now, but once I get to work, the first 5 orders will be worked on until they are completed, and when there's another opening on my desk, the next available model on the list will be brought up. You can commission me to do anything, you know I'm not scared! If you want your very own zombie, consult the CAZ page, or contact me with your sketched concept. If you want a normal horse breed, drop me an email with references and details. Want something else? Send me an email! Give me details!

Next time, at Seventh Seal Studio: New home, and new CATS!?

Over and Out!
